Sonia Odisho Pledges Eternal Love in Taklet A Leleh

“Love is simply the name for the desire and pursuit of the whole, and the pursuit of the whole is called love.” Plato (427-347 B.C.)

The complexity, yet harmony, between two individuals opposite in nature united through interpersonal relationships has perhaps been best dealt with in the Symposium by Greek philosopher Plato who produced work of unparalleled influence; yet, millenniums later, the quest for identifying ourselves in another person continues.

Winning over the hearts of those we love through poetry and songs is ancient, yet a modern practice, as in “Taklet A Leleh,” a love song performed by the luminous Assyrian-Australian artist Mrs. Sonia Odisho, written and composed by Mr. Napoleon Shimon and arranged by Mr. Shirak Tatosian.

This tranquilizing song which has taken listeners to a whole new emotional level is the epidote that would not have gotten away from etching a few of my own sentences on the importance behind the power of an artist’s delivery of a metaphorical song about the emergence of an endless love that every man and woman longs to be enchanted, if not gripped by – a lover’s spell that is meant to be yielded to in an everlasting journey between two people, upon which hopes and dreams rest.

The imagination in “Taklet A Leleh” is left to the lovers reading these colorful lyrics, which I’ve re-written in “garshuni” [Assyrian pronunciation, English scripting], but for now, this effortlessly belted stylistic tune has drawn nearly 65,000 viewers to its YouTube release in only one month, making Sonia’s latest album the most sought after music compilation of 2018 on social media, thus far.
