Biography

Lorraine Davis was born in Tehran, Iran. She grew up in an Assyrian family who encouraged her passion for classical music, literature and arts. At the age of ten, she performed a solo piece at the Assyrian Presbyterian Church. She continued as a soloist with the church choir and the Nineveh Choir performing a variety of pieces.

While studying Architecture at the faculty of fine arts at the University of Tehran, she attended evening singing sessions at the Conservatoire of European Classical Music and took private piano lessons with Prof. Thomas Christian David. Along with other Assyrian musicians, she gave two concerts in Tehran performing the music of Assyrian composers William Daniel, Polus Khophri and Nebu Issabei. She has also performed, as solo singer, singing the Handel’s Messiah and performing classical pieces by Verdi, Puccini, and Schubert at both public and private occasions.

Lorraine has also performed in Germany and Belgium in 2001 and took part at the Mesopotamian Night in 2008 and 2009 in Modesto, CA. In 2010, she had two concerts in San Jose and Turlock titled “A Celebration of William Daniels’ Musical Creations” presented by Rev Fereidoun Es-Hag. She has also made the first recording of William Daniels’ complete repertoire. At the moment, Lorraine volunteers to help singers who are eager to learn more about the techniques of classical singing. In addition, she enjoys singing modern South American classical pieces and Persian folk songs with guitar, tar and sitar at cultural events in the Bay.
