Biography
Khairy Boudagh was born in the town of Alqosh, which is located north of the Ancient city of Nineveh in Beth-Nahrain, Iraq.
His mother, who has a lovely voice, noticed Khairy?s talent for music while she would be doing household chores and singing church hymns with him riding piggyback.
His first church hymn that he learned from his mom was in Sureth "Esho? Stathee Kebinokh". His musical talent was also influenced by Sunday Services which he attended faithfully with his family. From his childhood he was a big fan of two religious people who were gifted with angelic voices, Bishop Mar Aphram Bede, (God rest his soul) and Father Youhanan Choulagh, (God bless him).

He would listen to all types of music and try to memorize the words and sing them to his family and friends, even though he couldn?t understand some of the lyrics. He received his first musical gift for his 7th birthday, which was a xylophone.

He would tap the stick on the bars and from the tones would make a song. He became very well known in his town and people would call him to sing at their special occasions. One day his mom heard him singing in his room holding a comb pretending it was a microphone. He was singing "Zay Al Hawa" by his favorite Arabic singer Abdel Halem Hafidh.

From that day on, his family supported him 100%. His older brother Khalid made his first performance on a stage possible. He saw him as a very talented kid and took him to his high school to perform. Khairy was 8 years old when he sang live in front of more than hundreds of students at Alqosh Boys High School.

His first song was in Arabic language "Barda Barda" by Samira Tawfiq. He participated in many school performances and picnics. One of his elementary teachers saw him performing at one of these ocassions. He approached Khairy and told him "Son, you have a very nice voice and I know that you?ll have a very bright future.
So, don?t you ever let go of this talent."

The geographical location of Alqosh is very close to the Northern towns and cities of Kurdistan. So, His dad (God rest his soul) used to listen to Kurdish singers such as Mohamad ?Aref Al Jazrawi and ?Essa Barwari. That is where Khairy learned how to sing in the Kurdish language. Some of these songs his dad would interpret the meaning to him and the rest he would memorize.

His favorite Kurdish singer was Tahsin Taha. Khairy and his family traveled to Greece on a three-year journey to settle in the United States. They lived in Athens and with the Greek music style close to the Middle Eastern style, he was able to sing in Greek language and add more to his repertoire.

His favorite Greek singers were Yani Parios and Yorgos Margaritis. In Parios he found a classical and romantic singer and in Margaritis he had a Middle Eastern flavor in his music. In Athens there were a good number of Chaldo/Assyrian people.
So, he would perform at their occasions and picnics. There he met a young man by the name of Sabah Gazala, who taught him how to play Tamboura / Boziq.

Upon arriving to the United States with his family, he started gathering songs and knowing what kind of music the community liked. He taught himself how to play keyboard and started practicing the songs he heard around him.

He established his first musical band under the name of Bazz Band.
There were three members in the band, Khairy on Keyboards, Albert Dinkha on Bass Guitar, and Salem Koki on Drums. They got to be well known in the community and performed with many Assyrian singers.

They played for most of the clubs and organizations. Khairy says it all the time, the reason for his success and for his name to be recognized in the community goes to the Araden Club and its people, who supported him from the beginning.

So, Khairy says to the Araden people "I owe it to you all, thank you!!" His first musical album to be released was titled "Barbara".

That album spread very fast in the community and in the world.
Specially, the song "Barbara" which he composed and it was written by his brother, Khalid. That was the beginning of his success.

Ashoor Baba in Chicago arranged his first album; William Shlaimon in Detroit arranged his second album titled "Bignune", Hassan Hamid, in Beth-Nahrain, Iraq, and Khairy arranged third album titled "Sera".

As of his Arabic album titled "Ya Zaman", Fadhil Falih, Ghazwan Al Qaisy and Mustafa Al Sodany in Iraq arranged it. Finally, Ameel Assofi in Detroit arranged his fourth album in Sureth titled "De Muri" and it is scheduled for release by the end of July 2003.

He composes most of his music and he writes the lyrics for some of his songs.
Also, many poets participated in writing his songs. In fall of 1993 he went to Beth-Nahrain, Iraq. It was a dream come true for him after being so many years far away from his homeland. Part of that dream was to sing live in his hometown Alqosh.
He made it happen with the help of his childhood friends.

This was an outdoor concert. The other part of his dream was to perform outdoor for the Festival of Raban Hermiz, which it?s called Shera. He sang live for more than ten thousand people for hours and hour?s non-stop. There he met the director Farid Hanna. He made three of his Arabic songs as a video clip.

While he was there working with Farid, an idea came up to them, why not make a musical movie from his songs in Sureth and Arabic. So they planned to work on the project immediately. They made a total of twenty-two songs as a video clip.
They did sixteen videos in Sureth and six Arabic.

Farid had made a very simple scenario to insert in between each of the video clips.
The idea of the movie was that a young man who had returned to his homeland after years of longing, there he would meet back with his family and friends. The scenes were taken from North to South part of Beth-Nahrain, Iraq. The movie was called Expatriate?s Longing and in Arabic Haneen Al Moughtareb. It was the first musical movie made in Beth-Nahrain, Iraq in two languages Sureth and Arabic. This was his first experience as an actor. The movie was released in 1995.

Khairy is a member of St. Joseph choir in Troy, Michigan, which is founded by his Excellency Bishop Mar Sarhad Yousip Jammo. Being part of the choir added more to his musical career and gave him the opportunity to have his first experience in theatre.

In 2002 he was part of the huge cast of the historical panorama musical play
Between the Tigris and Euphrates, "Benath Deqlath O Prath". The play was written/music composed by his Excellency Mar Sarhad Jammo. Music director was Maestro Raied George and the director was the talented Adel Yaldiko.

More than forty people were involved in this big project. They successfully made five performances in Michigan and one in San Diego, California. As a singer, Khairy has performed in most of the states, Canada and as far as Australia.

He does not have all his time dedicated to music; he is also managing his family business Computer Warehouse that was established in 1997.
