Ewan Shamdinany 1942 – 2012

Sadly passed away on 26 of March this year, in Sweden. Leaving behind him a wealth of magnificent Assyrian Music  treasure.

Songs like (Akh kha Kekhwa Jrele o Khobakh), (Komena Kheleh Eynatakh) and many other hits.

He begun singing in the warmth of his homeland Iraq, in the embracing arms of his city Kirkuk, ending in the cold of Diaspora away from his city and childhood friends.

His career begun in the 1960's as a teacher in the city of artists Kirkuk, he migrated to Sweden at the end of the 1990's. He was known as an admirer of Music and Singing, which allowed him to confront the directors at the Kirkuk Radio and Television, and convinced them to the need in presenting Assyrian music and culture too, he was one of the pioneers in that field at that time.

His insistence allowed him to break the restrictions put by the government on our culture, which opened a flood gate, allowing tens of singers to present their songs on Kirkuk TV and Radio.

We have lost another legend and quality artist, such artists sung for the heart and soul of the listeners.
