Biography

Bakuri, whose real name is Andrews Israel Khamo:

His family originated from Hakkari Turkey, but during the Ottoman campaign launched against the Assyrians, his family fled Hakkari region and moved into Iraq in the twenties for safety, they settled in Mosul and later moved to the Iraqi town of Koysinjaq where the artist "Bakuri" was born in 1928. 

He completed his primary and medium studies in the same town, and then moved to Erbil to complete his preparatory studies, and in 1958 his father resigned from his job as a police officer and moved his family to Kirkuk, and from there, Bakuri moved to Baghdad to complete his high education and later graduated and became an English language teacher. He was appointed as the English and music teacher at his old middle school in Koysinjaq, and later started his studies as a technician and musician.

He visited Baghdad to meet the head of the Kurdish department Mr. Kamel Amin, who nicknamed him (Bakuri) and recorded the first song for the Kurdish radio program on the seventh of May 1954, and on the tenth of May 1954, he performed the first radio party after being accepted as a singer on the Kurdish radio in Baghdad when he passing the test, his fame was in broadcast and his music concerts also continued at the radio Kurdish segments.
